We tried our best to recreate a McDonald’s breakfast wrap as they’re currently not on the menu. It’s not quite authentic.
Ingredients for 1 serving (682 calories per serving):
- 1 hash brown (Morrisons’ own)
- 1 breakfast patty (Morrisons’ own – they’re in the freezer section)
- 1 Mediterranean tortilla wrap (Morrisons’ own)
- 1 cheesy slice (Morrisons’ own, but sadly not the Savers one this time)
- 1 medium free range egg (Morrisons’ own)
- 1 Lincolnshire sausage (from the butcher’s counter at Morrisons)
- 10g ketchup (Heinz 50% less salt)
Instructions:
- Put the hash brown in the oven for 16 minutes at 220 degrees (not fan!)
- Fry the sausage and the breakfast patty in a pan for about 5 minutes. I didn’t add any oil or anything – monitor both to rotate them to ensure you’re cooking them through properly. The sausage should stop being translucent and the patty should stop being red in the middle
- Lay a wrap on a cutting board and transfer over the patty into the centre. Add the cheesy slice on top. Fry an egg in the spot in the pan vacated by the patty
- When the sausage is ready, cut it in half lengthways on the cutting board and put it, cut edge down, on the cheesy slice
- Either flip the fried egg to solidify the yolk and egg white, or wait till the egg white firms up (the glob layer turns white)
- When you’re happy with the egg’s state, layer it on the sausage. At this point your hash brown should be ready to take from the oven, which you should add onto the egg
- Fold the bottom of the wrap up, then tuck in the sides

Recommendations:
- The dimensions of all of these ingredients are not like McDonalds makes them, so the wrap will struggle to wrap it all up neatly – if you want to invest in extra large wraps that’s your call
- Yes, we missed the bacon, added eggs and a sausage. “Have it your way”
- We used a round metal cookie cutter to keep the egg in the shape that McDonalds uses for its McMuffin range. It worked ok 50% of the time and not at all the rest of the time, so maybe we’ll workshop this
