Mike and I got engaged at Walt Disney World nearly 3 years ago, and we were always set on getting married in London (unless we became lottery millionaires). The original plan was a 2021 wedding with 100 of our closest friends and those you’re always obliged to invite.
None of us (neither the guests, who had received their Save the Dates more than a year out from the occasion, nor us, the happy couple) knew, of course, that a pandemic would get in the way of things. It was December 2020 that we called all vendors we had already contracted with, and asked them if they could join us in delaying the wedding by just one more year please.
The good thing is that all of them did. The bad thing is that the venue had to fold shortly after, leaving Mike and I scrambling, as we feared that our 2022 plans were crossed yet again. The better thing is having reliable bridesmaids, who jumped into action as I kept them up to date with the ups and downs of this situation.
So here we are again. A year out from our new planned wedding date, with a couple of things to organise. I might as well share what’s happening as it happens, right? Here’s what you can expect future posts about:
- choosing a London venue
- a recap of the wedding dress experience so far
- choosing a photographer, videographer and hair and makeup (HMU)
- selecting our other vendors
I’ll try my best to record everything that’s out of my hands as well – like the groom’s side of things, and anything by the wedding parties (bachelorette/bachelor parties, or hen and stag dos as they’re known in the UK). And after all is said and done I can share the photos and videos to look back on what will hopefully be the party of a lifetime!
